Zaira Wasim reacts to the hijab line: ‘As a woman who wears the hijab, I oppose this whole system’ | Bollywood

Actress Zaira Wasim is a celebrity who recently spoke about the ongoing hijab line-up in Karnataka. The actor went on Facebook on Saturday to criticize the ban on hijab in Karnataka schools and share a long post saying it is unfair.

The hijab queue started on January 1 when 6 female Muslim students were not allowed to enter their college wearing hijab at the Government PU College in Udupi. They staged a protest against the college administration, which became a statewide issue across Karnataka. The case is currently pending in the Karnataka High Court.

Zeira commented on the controversy on her Facebook page. As Zaira put it, “as a woman who wears the hijab she wears,” as a woman who wears the hijab, “with gratitude and humility, I oppose this whole system of women being detained and persecuted.

The actor added that it is unfair for Muslim women to choose between hijab and their education. “It is an utter injustice to layer these biases against Muslim women and set the institutions for them to decide between education and the hijab. You are trying to force them to make a specific choice that will feed your agenda. They criticize them while they are in prison for what you have created,” she added.

The 21-year-old said it was sad that all this was happening in the name of empowerment. In his post, he said, “Above all, it is very bad to create a mask that all this is being done in the name of empowerment. It is the opposite. It’s sad.”
