JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings universe’s new Amazon series dropped its first appearance during the Super Bowl on Monday morning. Titled Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, the series is arguably the most expensive television or web series in history.
The stunning 60-second TV spot teaser offers viewers a glimpse of Tolkien’s imaginary magical world of the Second World Second Ages. The teaser shows scenes of a young gallantry trying to climb a mountain with nothing but a boxing match.
As we watch the Second Age scenes of the Middle Earth, the voice of a small child says, “You have never wondered what is yet to come. There are wonders in our world beyond our wonder.” We see scenes of hobbits, men, elves and dwarves, as well as scenes of large-scale wars.
A text on the screen reads, “Before the King, Before the Coalition, Before The Ring, a new legend begins this autumn.” The Rings of Power was set up thousands of years before the events of the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.
According to the series summary, beginning in a relatively quiet period, it follows a group of familiar and new characters, long fearing the recurrence of evil in the Middle-earth. Recent reports suggest that the rival to the original film trilogy – Sharon – will be an integral part of the series.
The Rings of Power is based on the universe created by JRR Tolkien in his books. Two trilogies have been created based on the books, which together grossed $ 6 billion. With a budget of $ 400 + million for Season 1 alone, the series is set to be the biggest ever.
