Senior filmmaker Shyam Benegal has released a poster of his upcoming biopic titled Mujib – The Making of a Nation. It is an Indo-Bangladesh joint production on the life of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of Bangladesh, under the Audiovisual Co-production Agreement between the Republic of India and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
Directed by renowned filmmaker Shri Shyam Benegal, the film was shot in detail in India and Bangladesh following all the health guidelines in the midst of the Govt-19 epidemic. The film was completed in December 2021.
Mujibur was born into a famous Muslim family. Growing up in a religious and harmonious environment, he was very loving and sympathetic towards the poor.
Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, Mujibur fought against the differences and deficits between West Pakistan and East Pakistan and against Pakistani military rule. He was imprisoned for about 11 years from 1947 to 1971, striving for an independent and sovereign Bangladesh, which is why Mujib is known as the father of Bangladesh and the ‘stock ball’.
Director Shyam Benegal said, “I am delighted to be working on this film, which has always been a fruitful association with NFDC since its inception, and now working with BFDC is a happy experience. Mujib – The Making of a Nation Bringing it on the reel is a difficult task and we have portrayed his character in an uncompromising manner. Mujib has been India’s best friend and we hope this poster will connect the audience. “
Bangladeshi actor Arifin Shuo, who plays Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said, “I was fascinated by Mujib’s role, it was a dream come true, I am proud to be a part of this iconic project and the director who directed him, Shyam Benegal ji, had no words to express how great this film is for me and my country. I felt warmth and great hospitality during the making of the film in India. I hope I have justified the character and the audience. They will stick with me and love the way they do for participation. “
The film stars Nusrat Imros Disha, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Sanchal Chowdhury and Nusrat Faria in the lead roles.
The film is written by Atul Tiwari and Shama Jaiti. The film will have Satish Sharma as the line producer, Sham Kaushal as the action director, Azim Sinha as the editor, Dayal Nihalani as the co-director and Pia Benegal as the costume designer.
