The makers of SS Rajamouli’s masterpiece have announced a new release date of March 18, but have banned April 28.
Producers on Friday announced that SS Rajamouli’s highly anticipated period action film RRR (Rise of Rise) will now hit theaters on March 18.
In a statement posted on the film’s official Twitter and Instagram handles, the film’s crew said they had booked April 28 if the film was postponed again due to the Kovit-19 epidemic.
“If the epidemic situation in the country improves and all the theaters are fully operational, we are ready to release on March 18, 2022. Otherwise, the RRR movie will be released on April 28, 2022,” the statement said.
Directed by South Indian actor Ram Charan and ND Rama Rao Jr., the Telugu-language Pan-India film is being produced by DVV Entertainment. The film stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgan in the lead roles.
Earlier in early 2022, after an increase in corona virus cases across the country, the producers announced the decision to postpone the release of the film for six days before coming to theaters. The group also launched a massive advertising campaign across India.

RRR has been repeatedly postponed since 2020 due to corona virus infection. It was originally scheduled to release in theaters on July 30, 2020. However, the release was postponed to January 8, 2021, following the onset of the Covit-19 epidemic. In November 2020, director SS Rajamouli confirmed that the release was further postponed as the shooting of the film was stopped due to an epidemic. In October 2021, the January 7, 2022 theatrical release date was announced and postponed again to New Year’s Day.
RRR is a fiction based on the lives of two freedom fighters in the early 20th century – Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Kumram Beem (NTR Jr.).
