Actor Nagarjuna and his son actor Naga Chaitanya have opened their minds about being referred to as ‘Southern Actors’. In a new interview, the father-son duo revealed that they always hear it, but that they are proud of their roots.
Naga Chaitanya co-stars with her father Nagarjuna in their Telugu supernatural film Bangarraju. Directed by Kalyan Krishna Kurasala, the film is a sequel to the 2016 film Sokkade Chinni Nayana. The film also stars Kriti Shetty, Ramya Krishna, Salapati Rao, Rao Ramesh, Brahmaji, Vanilla Kishore and Jhansi.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, when asked if he is still called a Southern actor, Nagarjuna said, “All the time. ‘What’s going on in the South?’ The same thing is happening in the South. Even now, when they walk into a restaurant somewhere in Delhi or Mumbai, they say, ‘Woh south ka actor hai (he’s an actor from the south).’ At the airport, CISF men, I keep hearing that. ” When asked if it bothered him, he said, “No, not really. Really proud.”
Naga replied, “Ya, ya. Of course. We always ask for a South Indian actor, a South Indian actor, a South Indian actor. But as Dad said, our roots are here, but at the same time, these whole South Indian-North Indian films,” It’s nice to have that whole division diluted. I think it’s always going to be that way.
Bangarraju is the first film of Naga Chaitanya who has announced her split with actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The couple released a statement on their social media accounts in October last year, telling their fans about their separation after nearly four years of marriage.
Recently, during a press conference for Bangarraju promotions, he talked about splitting. “It simply came to our notice then. It is a mutual decision made for their personal happiness. If she’s happy, I’m happy. So divorce is the best solution in such a situation, ”he said.
