Actress Karishma Kapoor shared a picture of late singer Lata Mangeshkar, actors Raj Kapoor, Nargis and young Sasi Kapoor who traveled the Memorial Path on Saturday. Composers Shankar-Jaikishan and Kwaja Ahmed Abbas are also featured in the monochrome photo.
In the photo taken during the premiere of Awara, Lata Mangeshkar stood next to Raj Kapoor and looked at the floor smiling. Sashi Kapoor, who posed next to Raj and Nargis, was also smiling at the lens.
Nargis, who covered her head and tied the sari, smiled for the picture. Karisma, who shared the photo, captioned, “Dadaji (Grandpa) Avara’s premiere has many legends in one frame. Relax in Glory Lata Ji. The Nightingale of India (flower, red heart and folding hands emojis).” Awara is a 1951 film directed by Raj.
Fans have commented on the photo in retaliation for this post. One person wrote, “Beautiful picture.” “The end of the music industry,” said another fan. “He is a legend, he is a pillar of the Indian music industry. No one can change the great legends,” another commented.
Lata Mangeshkar died at the age of 92 on Sunday morning due to multiple organ failure. His body was cremated with full state honors at Shivaji Park in central Mumbai in the evening. Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, songwriter Javed Akhtar, filmmakers Ashutosh Gowariker, Madhur Bandarkar, singers Anuradha Patwal, Mika Singh and Kailash Kher also paid tributes at Shivaji Park.
Earlier, celebrities including actor Amitabh Bachchan, Asha Bhosle and Shraddha Kapoor paid their respects at Prabhu Kunj, Lata’s Peter Road home, where her body was laid to rest before being taken to Shivaji Park. Considered one of India’s masterpieces with 25,000 songs in a nearly eight – decade life, Lata has died at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital.

Earlier in the afternoon, as a flower bedroom procession marched from his Pedar Road to Shivaji Park, a crowd of mourners waved to say goodbye to the singer. Her doctor said Lata died at 8.12am, a month after being admitted to hospital with mild Govt-19 symptoms. She was also diagnosed with pneumonia. The Maharashtra government has declared two days of mourning for the singer.
