Alia Bhatt is waiting for the release of her Ganguly Kathiawadi movie this Friday. A special screening of Sanjay Leela Bhansali film was held on Wednesday and celebrities including Deepika Padukone, Vicky Kaushal, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora and Janvi Kapoor watched the film.

Alia was wearing a white salwar kameez for the event. Just as Alia came in a white sari for the screening of Ganguly Kathiawadi and Deepika came in a white sari to promote the film. Veteran actors Rekha and Shabana Azmi also came to see the film in white. Rekha did Namaste in Alia style when clicked by the paparazzi.

It was rumored that Ishan Cutter and Ananya Pandey, the couple who attended the film screening, came together in a car. Vicky Kaushal also saw the film and was the first to share her thoughts about it. “I was absolutely shocked by the sheer brilliance displayed in the film,” he said. He called Alia “breathtaking miracle” and Ganguly. Vicky’s sister – in – law Isabella Kaif was also present.

Arjun Kapoor and girlfriend Malaika Arora watched the film together. Javed Akhtar, Kriti Sanon, Janvi Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia D’Souza, Sara Ali Khan, Rithima Kapoor Sahni, Rima Jain and filmmaker Shashank Kaithan were also present on the occasion.

In Ganguly Kathiawadi, Alia Bhatt plays the role of a young woman who is pushed into the sex trade and eventually becomes a prominent figure in Mumbai’s Kamathipura. It stars Ajay Devgan, Chandanu Maheswari, Vijay Ross, Seema Pahwa and many more.

The film recently went down the legal ladder after Congress MLA Amin Patel filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking to change the name of the film, accusing it of misrepresenting Kamathipura as a red light area and illuminating the Katiyawadi community. There were a few more petitions against the film. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court recommended to the producers to change the title of the film.
