Action hero Bruce Willis, the star hero of the Die Hart owner, was announced by his family on Wednesday to retire from acting due to ill health.
“Bruce is suffering from some health problems and was recently diagnosed with aphasia, which is affecting his cognitive abilities,” said a post on Instagram signed by his family.
“As a result, Bruce is moving away from a career that is very important to him.”
The post has been signed by Willis’ current wife Emma Heming Willis and ex-wife actor Demi Moore and her children Rumor, Scout, Tallula, Mabel and Evelyn.
“This is a very challenging time for our family and we truly appreciate your continued love, kindness and support.
“We are moving this into a strong family structure and want to bring in his fans because we know how much he means to you as you do to him.
“As Bruce always says, ‘Live It Up’ and we plan to do it together.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, aphasia often occurs after a stroke or head injury and “robs you of the ability to communicate.”
“It can affect your ability to speak, write and understand oral and written language.”
