Directed by Farhat Samji, Bachchan Pandey also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Arshad Warsi. The action entertainer stars Akshay as a gangster and Kriti as a filmmaker trying to get him to study for his gangster film. Most reports suggest that the film was collected somewhere 13-14 crore on its opening day Friday. Suryavanshi earned Akshay Kumar’s last theatrical release 26 crore on the first day.

According to BoxOfficeIndia.com, “Bachchan Pandey has amassed a net gross of Rs 13-13.50 crore on the first day. It does not seem to reach the number. ” Kashmir Files earned more than Bachchan Pandey on Friday 19.15 crore.

Though the film is second only to The Kashmir Files, reports suggest that it is expected to be a weekend due to Akshay’s stellar strength and commonly spoken words. The BoxOfficeIndia.com report gave a strong performance to Bachchan Pandey, which was released on Holi, when business was slow in the first half of the day.

Bachchan Pandey and The Kashmir Files are expected to keep their fort at the box office for some time as there are no major Hindi theatrical releases this month. However, they may be tested on the Hindi version of SS Rajamouli’s multilingual film RRR, which will be released next week. Apart from South Indian stars Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, the film also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgan.
