The Bachchan Pandey film is directed by Farhat Samji and stars Akshay alongside Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez and Arshad Warsi. The film follows an aspiring filmmaker (Kriti) studying a gangster (Akshay) for his gangster film. The film was released on March 18 ahead of the Holi festival.
However, from its opening day, Bachchan Pandey did not do the expected number from it. According to BoxOfficeIndia.com, “Bachchan Pandey collected Rs 46.75 crore in his first week as collections fell sharply from Monday. It was very difficult over the weekend as it failed to grow over the weekend.
In comparison, The Kashmir Files did a business ⁇110 crore in a single week, dwarfing Bachchan Pandey in all parts of India. As most of the screens were taken up by SS Rajamouli’s Pan-India film RRR which was released this Friday, the Akshay-starrer film will now further reduce its revenue. Bachchan Pandey’s strong income came from small centers in UP, Bihar and MP constituencies. However, most theaters for this week have been replaced by RRR.
The film will pass according to industry estimates ⁇50-crore ⁇Net income is Rs 100 crore.
