Asha Bhosle, who met Lata Mangeshkar at a Mumbai hospital, shared what the doctors said about her sister’s health.


Singer Asha Bhosle met singer Lata Mangeshkar, who is currently admitted in the ICU ward of Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, on Saturday evening. After meeting Lata, Asha spoke to reporters as she was leaving the hospital in a car.

Asha Bhosle, quoting ANI news agency, said, “The doctor has said that she is currently in good health.” Earlier, Dr Pratib Samdhani, who is treating Lata Mangeshkar, said the singer was being treated aggressively and tolerated the procedures well. After previously recovering from covit-19 and pneumonia, Lata was again placed on ventilator support due to her poor condition.

“Lata Mangeshkar is in the ICU at Didi Breach Candy Hospital. She is undergoing intensive treatment and is undergoing procedures well at the moment,” Samthani told reporters outside the hospital on Saturday. The 92-year-old singer tested positive for Covit-19 with mild symptoms and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Breach Candy Hospital on January 8.

Earlier, Dr Pratibha had said that Mangeshkar’s health was deteriorating. “She is not feeling well. She is being treated in the ICU and is being put on a ventilator again,” the doctor told PTI.

On January 29, Dr. Pratibha said that Lata was showing signs of improvement and had been discharged from the ventilator but was still being monitored in the ICU. In November 2019, the singer was admitted to the same hospital after being diagnosed with difficulty breathing and having pneumonia. She was discharged after 28 days.

Considered one of the best playback singers in Indian cinema, she began her career in 1942 at the age of 13 and has sung over 30,000 songs in various Indian languages. During his seven-decade career, he has sung memorable songs including Ajib Dastan Hai Yeh, Pyaar Kya To Tarna Kya and Neela Osman Cho Gaya.

The singer has been honored with India’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna, and the Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and Dada Saheb Phalke awards.
