Actor Amitabh Bachchan, who described Lata Mangeshkar as the ‘voice of millions’, paid tribute to the late singer on Sunday. Lata, 92, died at a hospital in Mumbai at 8.12 am due to multiple organ failure.
Amitabh Bachchan took to his personal blog to say goodbye to the melody queen. “She left us … The voice of millions of centuries left us. Her voice now sounds in heaven!” He wrote. “Prayers for peace and tranquility ..” The 79-year-old actor added.
Lata tested positive for Kovit-19 with mild symptoms and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Breach Candy Hospital on January 8, where she was treated by Dr. Prath Samthani and her team of doctors.
After her death, Dr. Pratibha Samthani, who was treating the singer at Breach Candy Hospital, released a statement. “We are deeply saddened to announce the tragic death of #LataMangeshkar at 8.12 am.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uttam Thackeray has said that the funeral of Lata Mangeshkar will be held with state honors. Funeral services will be held in the evening.
Many celebrities including Anushka Sharma, Parineeti Chopra, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor paid homage to Lata. Anushka shared a monochromatic photo of young Lata on Twitter, saying, “‘God speaks with beautiful voices’ It was a sad day for India when our Nightingale left her mortal body. Lataji’s voice destroyed her forever. She will live in our hearts for her music. Deepest condolences. RIP Lataji. “
Priyanka also shared a photo of Lata on Instagram stories saying, “Music never stops. Om Shanti Lataji. ” Parineeti wrote, “I learned Hindustani classical music, but I was allowed to rehearse in his songs. Students were tested to see if he could sing at 1/10 of his talent. He is the musical heritage of India. Thanks Lata G. promotes music.” He wrote. AR Rahman posted a photo of himself with Lata on Instagram and said, “Love, respect and prayers.”

Considered one of the best playback singers in Indian cinema, Lata started her career in 1942 as a teenager and has sung over 25,000 songs in various Indian languages.
During his seven-decade career, he was honored with the Bharat Ratna, Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and Dada Saheb Phalke awards.
