Released on March 11, Kashmir Files ⁇It grossed Rs 250 crore at the box office and became the biggest sleeper hit in recent times. The film is based on the departure of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley in the early 90s. It stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar and many more. Since it is a heavy subject and lacks big stars, most commercial locals did not expect the film to do it better.
In one of the promotional interviews for his upcoming film Dasvi, Abhishek praised the film for its acclaim. In the video, which was part of a conversation with the Times Now news channel, Abhishek said, “You are talking about The Kashmir files. We are discussing two to three. Freedom of speech and expression, but if the film is not good, it will not work, there is no other reason for it. Work. You can take many other meanings and ripple effects.
Abhishek later clarified that his comment was not based on personal experience because he did not see the film, but interacted with others. “Again, I have no place to say because I have not seen the film. But I have never met anyone who said it was a bad film. That is the only truth of cinema. If a film does good business, it is essential. It will be a good film,” he added.
Vivek Agnihotri shared an excerpt of the interview on Twitter on Friday, writing “Thank you @juniorbachchan for your kindness”. Abhishek responded to Vivek’s tweet and promised to see the film soon. “Eager to see the picture soon. Congratulations,” he replied to Vivek.
Abhishek’s next film Tasvi also has political overtones. It revolves around the story of Ganga Ram Chowdhury (Abhishek), the politician of “love, corruption and Dil Se Desi” who finds a new challenge in prison: education. The film also stars Nimrat Kaur and Yami Gautam. Tasvi, produced by Dinesh Vision under his Maddox Films, Geo Studios and Back My Cake Films, is set to release on April 7 on Netflix and Geo Cinema.
